8-week on-line Mindfulness Based Stressed Reduction live course - 2nd January to 20th February 2025
Mindfulness is a way of learning to pay attention to the present moment and relate directly to whatever is happening in our lives. It is about noticing without judgement and bringing a gentle curiosity to our experiences. By practising and developing these skills through meditation we may become aware of the difference between being on automatic pilot and experiencing mindful awareness. This may help to reveal things that were previously unnoticed and therefore our experiences themselves may become very different. Increased mindfulness may also lead to the ability to choose different attitudes and behaviours and therefor can be helpful in increasing self-esteem, decreasing depression and anxiety or to change our relationship with pain or other physical difficulties. Mindfulness has long now been seen as a valuable treatment for mental and physical health issues as well as generally promoting our wellbeing.
We meet for a 2 hour session via Zoom on a weekly basis for 8 consecutive weeks - Thursday 2nd January to Thursday 20th February, 6.30pm to 8.30pm (UK time) 1.30pm to 3.30pm (EST).
An important part of the course programme is daily practice. We will be working together to change patterns of the mind that may have been around for a long time and we can only expect to see changes if we put in the time and effort to learn these new skills. There will be an invitation for you to commit up to 30/45 minutes daily of ‘formal’ mediation practice as well as some daily ‘informal’ short practices.
